Living in a culture where fast-fashion is rapidly growing, clothing has become dispensable and lost it’s meaning to the wearer. Buying, wearing and disposing has become the common life-cycle of clothing. Inspired to create the opposite, this collection is composed of pieces that are one-of-a-kind, explore handmade textile techniques and have an emphasis on the history and process of those techniques. In doing so, the collection proves the value of the handmade.

Baule Weaving

Inspired by the indigo dyed ikat fabrics and geometric zaza designs, of the Baule people in the Ivory Coast.

Garment design (including pattern-making and construction)

Jacquard designed and woven fabrics (including original hand paintings and CAD file), indigo resist dyeing, hand sewing, hand embroidery and applique

These are hand-woven textiles often richly decorated with weft patterns and additionally coloured with indigo by the tie-dye method. This later technique expands the design variation of already patterned cloths, thus enhancing and refining the quality of the cloth.
